Rouleur Leggings

£10.99

These leggings are a great all-rounder for active women! View A features a wide waistband, two generously-sized side pockets, and a curvy cut that matches your muscles. View B replaces the waistband with a halter-style cycling bib, a banded shorts hem, and stretchy cargo pockets.

No inseams mean there’s less opportunity for chafing no matter what your sport. The leg lengths, waist styles, and pocket types are interchangeable here, giving you eight possible combinations to best suit your activity and environment!

Cycling fans may be accustomed to the more common style of Y-back bib shorts, but in practice these can be fiddling to get on and off. The advantage of a halter-style bib short becomes apparent when nature calls and the straps can simply be slipped over the head and down without having to remove your jersey or jacket! No more cold comfort breaks in questionable roadside rests or portaloos, with your Rouleurs it's easy to stop, go, and get back in the saddle.

This pattern requires stretch fabric with good recovery - it is drafted with negative ease for a close fit similar to RTW compression styles. The shorts hem ends 12 cm (4 3/4 in) above the knee.

Did you know that the waistbands of the Rouleur Leggings and Tenacity Leggings are interchangeable, so you can mix & match to get even more options! See how in this blog post.

1cm (3/8in) seam allowances are included except for some edges of the pocket and bib on View B, where edges will be bound. A 2cm (3/4in) hem allowance is included for the full length leggings. Due to the unorthodox seamlines, diagrams showing how to make common fit adjustments to this pattern are also included in addition to the usual illustrated instructions.

This pattern is designed and tested to print onto both A4 and US Letter paper, and uses 35 pages for all views (View A or View B separately each require 26 pages). Separate A0 compatible "Print at Copy Shop" versions for each view are also included.  Both Print at Home and Copy Shop versions are all layered pdfs, so you may choose to just print the layers of your size(s) and the Text layer if your pdf app supports it (ie: Adobe Acrobat).

I am a long-distance runner and also a sewist - I've long been disappointed by the quality and fit of exercise clothing available on the market, so I've been sewing my own for the past few years - even running seven full marathons in my own-sewn gear! All my digital sewing patterns have been road-tested by myself and a team of fellow fit sewists. During development of this pattern I cycled the 100 mile RideLondon 100 wearing a version of these shorts (and again in 2022)!
